You Pay Too Much Tax

The evidence shows Australians pay more tax than ever before.

Next meeting on October 3

The Victorian Branch will now be holding regular meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm. The venue will be Cafe on Bourke, 50 Bourke St, Melbourne.

All are welcome.

Successful Victorian meeting

A meeting of LDP supporters and members was held on 7 September. The key item of discussion was the need for more Victorian candidates who believe in freedom. It costs $500 to nominate for the House of Representatives and $750 for the Senate. Your level of campaigning is entirely up to you, however the party would expect a certain minimum level of activity. The party may be able to subsidise your nomination fee, so if you’re interested in trying something different, do not hesitate to email. Stay tuned for details on the next Victorian meeting.

LDP meeting on June 21

The Victorian Branch will be holding an informal meeting on the 21st of June at 6:30pm. This will be an opportunity for supporters to meet and discuss options for moving the party forward, as well as other general issues. Interested non-members are welcome. The venue is the Curry Club Cafe, 394-396 Bridge Road, Richmond 3121. Prices for meals vary, however they are generally reasonable. Please RSVP to ldpvictoria@gmail.com

Do you want to pay less tax?

All Australians deserve to have less of their hard-earned money taken away in taxes, as the late Kerry Packer has noted:

“Of course I am minimising my tax. And if anybody in this country doesn’t minimise their tax, they want their heads read, because as a government, I can tell you you’re not spending it that well that we should be donating extra!”

Call for volunteers

The Victorian Division of the LDP is seeking expressions of interest from individuals dedicated to - or willing to learn about - free markets, individual liberty, and the reasons for advocating smaller government.

All are welcome to apply, however this is an ideal opportunity for libertarian university students with some previous experience in one or more of the following: electoral strategy, law, fundraising, political activism, web design, content management systems or accounting.

Volunteers will assist in putting together a proposal (to be submitted to the National Executive) where we outline a strategy for either (i) formally starting a Victorian Division of the party, or (ii) working within the existing party structure to support the federal party.
